Beauty Spotter… it’s app-solutely fabulous!

BeautySpotter App

If, like me, you have a bit of an Instagram and Pinterest addiction (lunch breaks disappear as you swoon over gorgeous hair, makeup and nail trends you vow to try), brace yourself for Beauty Spotter. The UK’s first mobile app for hair and beauty salon discovery launched in App Store just last week- I’ve been totally hooked ever since.

To celebrate, BeautySpotter held a fab five day pop up event at BOXPARK, Shoreditch, with complimentary makeovers.

Me with the gorgeous Gemma Bellman (CEO of BS) and Ross McLaughlan (celeb hairstylist at Jones & Payne)

But, don’t worry if you missed it this time, as Beauty Spotter will soon be spreading nationwide with pop up salons cropping up in cities up and down the UK.

9. BeautySpotter. Pop-up

I was lucky enough to head over and meet Gemma Bellman, Founder and CEO of Beauty Spotter.
Gembels (Bellman’s BS profile name) came up with the fantastic concept when preparing for her own wedding day. “None of my friends were married yet, so I couldn’t really ask around”, explains Gemma. “Wadding through Google Images and individual websites looking for wedding makeup and hairstyles, seemed to be my only option. Starting with nothing is really hard.”

What makes the Beauty Spotter app unique is that you can window-shop your favourite ‘look’ and then actually ‘book’, as the app connects you directly with the salon and stylist who posted it. Beauty Spotter lets us search by style, occasion, trend, area, brand and name so the perfect ‘look’ is in reach. Genius!

Hair – Sleek waves, created by the lovely Ross McLaughlan, stylist at Jones and Payne, (who styled locks at the Brit Awards this year) using Unite Max Control Spray and Unite Session Whip Mouse.
Ross’s top tips – Use a playing card to stop those manky heat infused hair clip indents. And, spray hairsray into your hands instead of directly to hair for subtle hold. (He had to keep telling me to ‘stop touching it’, as the curls might drop… oops). Thanks, Ross!photo
